A Girl's Best Friend
We all know the saying "diamonds are a girl's best friend" but how true is that really? Sure we all like things that sparkle and shine but does it really have to be diamonds? For some I think it does. The town I live in is an older town with people who's family have been here for generations. The money is old and the people show it. The younger "new people around here all are family oriented with their SUVs and shop at all of the chain stores, while the older ones drive Jaguars, wear their flashy jewelry and shop at the long standing shops which cost an arm and a leg. It's an interesting dynamic to say the least.
Skin Deep
My grandma used to be really obsessed with vanity. She instilled some of the values I have today telling me that the more expensive things we buy will always last longer and that you should always leave the house looking your best, even if you're wearing jeans. Now of course things are different because she has dementia and can't really grasp what's going on. She still wears her fake jewelry (before it would have been real), which she has a lot of since the family replaced the good stuff. She had lost her wedding set and no one knows where it went, we don't even think she noticed it was gone. At least now she won't be so insecure about how she looks, she always used to talk about age spots removal because she ended up with a lot due to everyone always in search of a tan. She used to hound me to either cover up or wear lots of sunscreen because no one told them to. It's nice to look nice but really, beauty isn't just skin deep.
Eye Creams
I think it's interesting what a big business eye and wrinkle products are. Everyone's always trying to look younger and really, I don't blame them. I've noticed lines appearing on my face too and had at least a small freak out moment. LOL The latest thing I've heard is finding products with a high concentration of peptides in them. I read some prototype 37c reviews and that one sounds pretty promising. I hope I still have some time before I start trying all these things out, some of my friends have already been doing it for quite some time. Crazy girls...LOL!
Free Food at Jack in the Box!
I never knew that Jack in the Box had a club where they offer coupons and things. Of course I signed up because I love junk and freebies. Today I got a coupon for a free sandwich with any purchase, meaning I could go in and buy two tacos for $1 and get something free. Totally cool! I think I'm headed over there tomorrow to pick this up. I should check all the other places we eat and see if they have a subscription program too. Could you imagine all the free food we could have? LOL!

After Much Debate...
...We're finally going to redo the family room this summer. It's amazing how long the conflicting opinions have kept us from doing anything in there. We've only lived in this house for what, 10 years?! My mom always has herself set in her ways and DS will throw in something silly like putting in home theater seating (we totally don't have that much room in there) and then there's the question of where to put DD's toys. At least I know we'll paint since we're using the left-over paint that I have from my room. One thing down, the rest of the room to go.

Shopping the Outlets
Last week we took a day trip to one of the outlet shopping centers nearby. I LOVE outlet shopping! Of course by now I had no money to spend there but it was fun all the same, disappointing but fun. LOL The last store we ended up in was the Sony store and boy did we drool. I still love my Sony laptop although there's some things I'd definitely change. I'm a sucker for pretty and of course DS and I saw a couple of laptops and netbooks that we really want. I guess you know what's on our Christmas lists huh? I'm not sure if we'll be able to get anything that expensive and fun this year but I know for sure we will some time next year if all goes to plan for me. I totally can't wait!

Lazy Eyes
While I was looking for a new car insurance company I realized that I should really be reading reviews to see what others think. I came across a titan auto insurance review and thought that the company might be good for DH since he doesn't have the best record. It's too bad though because they don't operate in most states. I got kind of tired trying to read through all the things people said about the companies but seeing a quick breakdown of each one was great so I didn't have even more reading to do. The funniest part about all that is that I've always thought of myself as a writer even since I was young yet I'm totally not a reader. How does that work? LOL!
Paying for Email
Okay, I just had to finish...my parents, the ones that don't want to ask PAID for their ISP after they had another one for over a YEAR because my stepdad thought that they had to pay to keep their email address! He didn't tell my mom and when I found out I about when through the roof! See what happens when you don't ask questions? It can be a very expensive mistake. That's over $200 totally gone and we don't have money to begin with. Okay, now I'm done LOL.
Wake Up People!
My parents aren't very smart people and as mean as that may be to say, they don't care to change it so it is really the reality. Every time something happens they never know what to do and they sit there and act like victims, never pro-active. For example, my mom doesn't know anything about electronics so she leaves it up to my stepdad. He doesn't know what he's doing either but won't ask any questions. My mom says that the reason why she doesn't ask is because she doesn't know what to ask. I can see her point but I don't either and obviously the only way to find out is to ASK what you need to know, DUH. So anyway, he'll buy something and soon enough the thing partially breaks down. It doesn't matter what it is, it only semi functions. Then my mom gets all mad as if "my family" busted it. Ugh, so annoying and they don't ever learn from it. I just found out that their car insurance went way up and instead of looking for auto insurance quotes, they sat there and paid it. I can go on and on because it's such a circle but I won't, just saying this much was frustrating enough.
Daredevil
Sometimes DD's such a wild child it makes me think that she's going to end up driving us crazy with extreme sports later in her life. She's always testing her boundaries and doing any crazy stunt that her little body will let her do. She'll probably have to think about getting life insurance quotes at a young-ish age if she's going to be doing all that. If she's smart she'll get it all out of her system before she has a family but I don't think the draw of a rush will ever be far away.
Done and Done!
Okay not quite, but super close! My office is finally done with the exception of some lights that I'd like to put in which the store didn't have and the bedroom is nearly there. I can finally see the light at the end of the long painful tunnel. LOL I'm so glad that it's almost over, it's been so long that I've started to not like the way it's been turning out because I can't see the final product. Well, that and the messes that I keep having to make and clean up repeatedly. That part really sucks too.
